Americanism
By Eva Wallace, Chairman
Happy New Year to all. As we start 2025, I want to remind all of you that the Americanism essays must be sent to me by April 1st, so give yourselves a week earlier as your mailing date, we sure don't want to disqualify anyone. It's important to verify the word count, which includes the title. I had to disqualify 4 of them last year as they were either under or over the word count. It's recommended that you confirm with your teachers and/or groups that the student actually wrote the essay; some states had to disqualify an essay as it was downloaded from an internet website.
Secondly, and most exciting, National is having a Grand Old Flag video contest. A flyer is attached with all the rules. A chance to be a videographer and present that wonderful song, "America the Beautiful" by George Cohen. Videos are due
by February 6th to National. As they say, "ready, set, film" and have fun doing it.
Our question this year: "What does American the Beautiful mean to me (regarding veterans and our military)"
Americanism Essay Contest: Winning essays are due to national division chairman by April 15.
Unit Award: Most Outstanding Unit Americanism Program (per division) — submitted by 5 p.m. ET on June 1.
Department Award: Best Department Americanism Program (per division) — submitted by 5 p.m. ET on June 1.
